On December 3, 2025, a special event will be held to commemorate the Blu-ray and DVD release of the film 'Tokyo Biyori' at Ikebukuro HUMAX Cinemas. Initially released in 1997 and directed by Naoto Takenaka, 'Tokyo Biyori' is a sentimental love story that intertwines the life of photographer Nobuyoshi Araki and his late wife, Yoko. The film, based on Araki's photo and essay collection of the same name, beautifully captures the couple's love against the backdrop of various stunning landscapes in Tokyo.
The screenplay was crafted by Ryo Iwamatsu, and the cinematography was handled by Yoshiharu Sasaki, known for his work on films like 'GONIN.' In this film, Takenaka portrays the photographer and Miho Nakayama plays Yoko, marking one of Nakayama's signature roles as a film actress. The event will not only feature the film screening but also a talk show with Naoto Takenaka and Tamio Okunuki, the film’s music supervisor and theme song composer.
