MediaTek Unveils Revolutionary 5G-Advanced FWA Technology at Network X 2026

MediaTek Unveils 5G-Advanced FWA Platform at Network X 2026

At the forefront of innovation, MediaTek and its subsidiary, Airoha Technology, have made waves at the Network X 2026 event by showcasing their next-generation Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) platform. This impressive technological advancement is poised to transform how users experience broadband connectivity, whether at home, in the office, or on-the-go.

A Leap Forward in Connectivity

The new FWA platform integrates cutting-edge features including 5G-Advanced connectivity, Edge AI capabilities, and Wi-Fi 8 technology. With these advancements, the MediaTek T930 modem is able to achieve uplink throughput increases of over 70% and downlink throughput increases of more than 40%. This leap in performance underscores MediaTek's commitment to maximizing channel utilization and enhancing user experience.

Evan Su, the Vice President and General Manager of the Wireless Communications Business Unit at MediaTek, emphasized the importance of simultaneous improvement in mobile network capacity, CPE efficiency, and in-home connectivity experiences. His statement pointed out that enhancing these areas not only allows telecom operators to better serve more subscribers, but also helps in controlling the costs associated with network upgrades—a crucial factor for the commercial viability of FWA solutions.

Redefining AI Integration in Telecommunication

As demanding applications like AI, cloud gaming, and real-time cloud services continue to rise, so do the network access requirements. MediaTek's T930 addresses these needs effectively, ensuring telecom operators can expand their FWA services without compromising on performance or quality. The integration of AI-AQM (Active Queue Management) technology enhances intelligent traffic management at the CPE edge, subsequently improving network accessibility and responsiveness.

Through its architecture, the T930 elevates network downlink throughput while extending coverage, thus offering a significant boost in service capabilities. In practical terms, home networks can expect sustained support for high-bandwidth applications coupled with reduced latency—an essential feature particularly for gaming and video streaming enthusiasts.

Industry Recognition and Future Prospects

The technological prowess of MediaTek's latest development has not gone unnoticed in the industry. The new FWA platform has been shortlisted for the prestigious Network X Awards 2026 under the category of
