Murakami Farm’s Commitment to Childhood Cancer Awareness
Murakami Farm, headquartered in Hiroshima City and led by CEO Kiyotaka Murakami, is once again supporting the "Global Childhood Cancer Awareness Campaign (Gold September)" this year. The campaign aims to illuminate iconic buildings and landmarks in gold throughout September, promoting awareness and support for childhood cancer.
On September 1st, at the Hiroshima Castle, a lighting ceremony will take place. A special online concert will be streamed for hospitalized children at Hiroshima University Hospital, featuring a string quartet led by Akiko Goto, an alumna of Hiroshima University. Additionally, during the Hiroshima Toyo Carp game at MAZDA Zoom-Zoom Stadium on September 4th, Seitaro Kanda, a third-year student from Mihara High School who has overcome osteosarcoma, will throw the ceremonial first pitch.
Murakami Farm is committed to supporting the children affected by pediatric cancer through our sponsorship of this campaign.
The Importance of Gold September Campaign
The Gold September Campaign is an annual initiative held during September, recognized as "World Childhood Cancer Awareness Month." Since its inception in Japan in 2021, the movement has gained significant traction, with 163 locations participating last year, marking the first time all prefectures in Japan illuminated their landmarks in gold. Hiroshima has consistently participated since the campaign's beginning, and this year, the iconic Hiroshima Castle will once again shine in gold.
Murakami Farm operates under the mission of creating new value through "Agricultural Business that Protects Life." We strive to contribute to a society where everyone can lead a healthy life through the production of nutritious vegetables. In line with this philosophy, we have been producing the "Broccoli Super Sprout" and "Broccoli Sprout 200," developed during cancer prevention research at Johns Hopkins University in the United States. For over 25 years, we have dramatically enhanced the levels of beneficial compounds in these products, and a portion of our sales has been consistently donated to support cancer prevention research foundations in the U.S. It is in this spirit that we are proud to continue our support for this event in Hiroshima over the sixth consecutive year.

A Message from CEO Kiyotaka Murakami
I am honored to continue our support for this campaign in its sixth year, driven by our desire to assist those facing childhood cancer. This year, we are particularly delighted about Seitaro Kanda's participation as he throws the ceremonial first pitch at the Carp game after overcoming osteosarcoma. Through the lighting of Hiroshima Castle, the concert, and the opening pitch ceremony, we hope this campaign raises awareness for pediatric cancer and encourages support for children and their families.
