Celebrating SpongeBob SquarePants: A New Stamp Release from USPS
On August 1, 2025, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) unveiled a set of commemorative stamps featuring none other than the beloved animated character, SpongeBob SquarePants, at an event in New York's iconic Times Square. This release marks a heartfelt tribute to the animated series that has captured hearts since its debut on July 17, 1999.
The pane includes 16 stamps, showcasing vibrant designs that bring the underwater world of Bikini Bottom to life. Two yellow stamps feature the cheerful face of SpongeBob himself, while others capture a host of characters including Sandy Cheeks, Patrick Star, Plankton, Mr. Krabs, Gary, and Squidward Tentacles. Another charming design highlights the friendship between SpongeBob and Patrick, encapsulating the whimsical charm that has made the series a cultural phenomenon.
Greg Breeding, the USPS art director responsible for the stamp design, used original artwork provided by Nickelodeon, ensuring that the stamps resonate with fans both young and old. At the launch event, Breeding signed autographs for eager fans who came to commemorate the occasion.
