Born on June 26, 1981, in Tokyo, Toritani's journey in baseball began at Seibo Gakuen High School, followed by a sparkling career at Waseda University, where he became an outstanding player. He was drafted in 2003 by the Hanshin Tigers and achieved a remarkable record for consecutive game participation, standing at 667 games, ranking fifth in history. Toritani later moved to the Chiba Lotte Marines and concluded his professional playing career in 2021. Currently, he works as a baseball commentator, sharing his expertise in various media outlets.
