Enfinity Global and Strioga Family Foundation Launches 150 MW Energy Storage Initiative in Italy

Enfinity Global Partners with Strioga Family Foundation in Strategic Initiative

In an important development for renewable energy in Italy, Enfinity Global, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, has teamed up with E Energy Invest, the investment arm of the Strioga Family Foundation, to kick off a significant battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Livorno, Tuscany. Under this venture, the Strioga Family Foundation will hold a 49.9% stake, while Enfinity maintains control with a 50.1% ownership, overseeing the project's ongoing development and construction operations.

This ambitious project boasts a capacity of 150 MW, providing an impressive 600 MWh of storage over a duration of four hours. It is a vital part of Enfinity’s expansive 6.7 GW BESS portfolio in Italy, which is designed to enhance grid flexibility and facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources. Furthermore, this initiative aims to bolster energy autonomy while improving the competitiveness of electricity pricing in the region.

Enfinity Global's integrated approach — combining solar power generation with battery storage — along with over 1 GW of signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and involvement in various energy auction programs, cements its status as a leader in Italy’s ongoing energy transition. The partnership with the Strioga Family Foundation marks a key milestone, allowing Enfinity to continue attracting prestigious equity partners to its projects. In recent months, it has successfully closed deals with the sovereign wealth fund of Azerbaijan and other undisclosed entities, totaling more than 1.1 GW in capacity.

The collaboration not only signifies Strioga Family Foundation's entry into the Italian energy market but also underscores a shared commitment to advancing energy transition through strategic investments in critical energy infrastructure. With its mission-oriented approach, the Foundation focuses on backing initiatives in renewable energy, battery storage, and energy efficiency projects.

Gediminas Uloza, CEO of the Strioga Family Foundation, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We have actively been seeking partnerships with Europe's leading renewable energy platforms and we are very pleased to join forces with Enfinity Global on this impactful BESS opportunity. This investment marks our largest commitment yet in battery storage development, bringing our total capacity across European BESS projects to well over 2.5 GWh."

Carlos Domenech, CEO of Enfinity Global, welcomed the Strioga Foundation as a strategic partner and highlighted the significance of this alliance. "This partnership not only exemplifies our capability to connect essential long-term capital with the energy transformation that Europe necessitates but also leverages our integrated energy platform to deploy crucial storage infrastructure effectively. Together, we will deliver new reliable power capacity promptly, enhance the resilience of the Italian electricity system, and help meet the increasing electricity demand,” said Domenech.

Julio Fournier Fisas, Enfinity Global’s General Manager for Europe, further elaborated on the project's relevance, stating, "Italy is entering a new era of its energy transition, in which battery storage will be indispensable alongside renewable generation efforts. With over 600 MW of authorized BESS projects, Enfinity is well-prepared to support this growth and deliver essential infrastructure for strengthening energy security and competitiveness in electricity prices over the long term."

With advisory support from Advant NCTM for Enfinity and Green Horse and Natural Power for the Strioga Family Foundation, this initiative stands as a significant step towards a sustainable energy future in Italy and reflects a growing trend of collaboration between established energy companies and mission-driven investment entities.
