Fangzhou Yuan's Glass Art Exhibition
YUGEN Gallery, located in the heart of Tokyo, has officially announced an upcoming solo exhibition by the renowned glass artist Fangzhou Yuan. This exciting event is set to take place from
September 12 to October 7, 2026. Drawing inspiration from the dynamic interplay between artificial constructs and the natural world, Fangzhou's work delves deep into the theme of "critical states", a concept that highlights the continuous transformation that occurs at the boundary of constructed and natural elements.
What makes Fangzhou Yuan's glass works particularly captivating is their unique reflection of nature's laws; the glass medium acts beyond human control, influenced by gravity and temperature. This duality emphasizes a significant relationship between human intention and natural forces, creating an intricate dialogue that resonates with viewers on multiple levels.
The forthcoming exhibition promises to present a collection of works that evoke architectural ruins and unformed geological layers, representing an ambiguous state between construction and collapse. These pieces capture not a fixed completion, but a moment in the process of change, exploring the universe's constant state of becoming and transformation.
