Exciting New Short Drama Series 'XX Couples' Launching on YouTube

New Original Short Drama Series: 'XX Couples'

On September 2nd at 15:00, the highly anticipated second installment of the original short drama series 'XX Couples' will be released on YouTube, brought to you by Sankei Building Inc. This exciting project is the brainchild of the well-known scriptwriter Yoshikazu Okada, famous for his works such as 'The Second Last Love' series and 'Hiyokko'.

The first series gained immense popularity, featuring locations such as the Tokyo Sankei Building and the Kobe Suma Seaworld, accumulating over 24 million views on YouTube since its launch on March 24th. In this second installment, the setting includes the striking wooden hybrid structure, 'KiGi AKIHABARA', where the story centers around a chance encounter between two individuals inspired by the beauty of wood. Additionally, the story unfolds at the 'NOW/HERE Shinjuku Yotsuya' shared office, showcasing three characters reconnecting through shared emotions over past tears.

Sankei Building Inc. is not just about constructing buildings; we aim to curate experiences and value unique encounters that arise from these spaces. As 'Culture Developers', we are excited to support this themed drama that embodies our philosophy that 'something unique can emerge when people come together in one place.'

Insights from Yoshikazu Okada

Yoshikazu Okada has shared his thoughts on the new series, expressing excitement about the storytelling. He mentions, “In both episodes, the office serves as a backdrop for simple yet powerful encounters with others. If you work hard at life, good things may come your way. I hope viewers walk away feeling that the world isn't so bad after all.” He praised the cast for their talent, signifying that they were a delight to work with and that their performances would shine.

Episode Highlights

The first episode, titled 'Helping a Broken Tree,' stars Momoko Tanabe as Michi Shirakawa – who struggles with being shy and finds herself caring for a broken tree she discovers in the park during lunch. At the office, she meets a friendly new employee, Juri Morino, played by Hinata Kikuchi, whose quirky charm leads Michi to question if Juri might actually be a wood fairy.

In the second episode titled 'Reunion at the Shared Office', Ruka Ishikawa portrays Chitose Yamamoto, a web designer who unexpectedly reunites with Atsuhiro Takami, played by Jin Suzuki. Their paths cross once more in a shared office space, triggered by an earlier moment where Takami was seen crying in public. Along with them, Shiori Iikura, portrayed by Shiori Doi, provides a warm presence as she observes the developing connection.
