Werner Bronkhorst Unveils 'Big Balls' Exhibition for World Cup Celebration

Celebrating Football Art: Werner Bronkhorst's 'Big Balls' Exhibition

Renowned South African artist, Werner Bronkhorst, is set to make a splash in Los Angeles from July 9 to 12, 2026, with his captivating new exhibition titled 'Big Balls', designed to honor the excitement surrounding the Football World Cup. This noteworthy collection of football-themed paintings is more than just an artistic endeavor; it represents a celebration of one of the world's most beloved sports.

The exhibition opens at 8175 Melrose Avenue, located in the vibrant West Hollywood, and will showcase Bronkhorst's innovative approach to art. Known for his vivid, hyper-realistic paintings that cleverly incorporate miniature figures hidden in layers of paint, Bronkhorst has garnered vast attention on social media, amassing 2.7 million followers. His previous collections have boasted remarkable success, including a recent launch that sold out in just 12 minutes, drawing 10,000 visitors in only three days.

In a groundbreaking effort to capture the spirit and energy of football, Bronkhorst’s new works embody the anticipation and fervor of the World Cup, as the city hosts this significant event for the first time. Alongside his paintings, the event marks a return to Los Angeles for Bronkhorst, who previously collaborated with famed racing driver Lando Norris to create a unique helmet and tailored artworks celebrating the driver’s milestone 150th race.

A highlight of the exhibition is the grand centerpiece titled 'From Every Corner,' which is Bronkhorst's largest artwork to date. This piece features a remarkable portrayal of star players, including the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mo Salah, and 45 others from participating countries in the tournament. This magnificent work will be auctioned at PHILLIPS' Modern and Contemporary Art Live Auction on July 16.

True to his commitment to community engagement, Bronkhorst plans to produce artwork live during the exhibition, allowing visitors to witness the creative process firsthand. The artist believes passionately that the essence of both art and football lies not only in the end result but in the thorough commitment and countless hours of dedicated effort that lead up to it. He eloquently states, “Just like creating a work of art, football requires patience, discipline, dedication, and practice.”

Visitors can expect to purchase other artworks and exclusive merchandise from the exhibition directly through Bronkhorst's website starting on July 16.

The exhibition's public opening hours are scheduled from 10 AM to 8 PM on July 9 and 10, and from 10 AM to 6 PM on July 12. An RSVP-only press preview is organized for July 8, from 6 PM to 7 PM.

In addition to his distinct creations, Werner Bronkhorst's artistic journey combines influences from diverse movements like abstract expressionism, surrealism, and pop culture. His work draws inspiration from legendary artists such as Warhol, De Kooning, Haring, and Magritte, further enriching the visual landscape he crafts in his exhibitions.
