About the WAVE Program



The name WAVE is inspired by the Kuroshio Current that flows through Wakayama. The concept signifies the ambition to create a transformative wave of innovation among local businesses, encouraging collaboration and adaptation in the face of evolving environmental and market conditions.

The program aims to support Wakayama's businesses in responding to changes and seizing new growth opportunities through practical open innovation practices. With the guidance of industry experts, it promotes synergy between companies by integrating various technologies, ideas, and skillsets to generate new values.

What is Open Innovation?



Open innovation is a strategy that allows companies to tap into external resources—be it technology, ideas, or services—to foster innovation and create new business opportunities. According to UNIDGE, a company specializing in open innovation support, it's about leveraging value that transcends organizational boundaries for a specific purpose.

Kickoff Event Details



The kickoff event is designed to encourage participation in the WAVE program by providing valuable insights into open innovation. UNIDGE's Co-CEO, Yusuke Doi, will conduct a seminar on the significance of open innovation.

Additionally, Haruki Odajima, CEO of EBILAB, known for increasing the revenue of a local restaurant chain by twelve times over twelve years, will deliver a keynote speech discussing the importance of transformation for local enterprises. A panel discussion will include Ryosuke Furusawa, President of Takasho Digitex, who will share insights related to indoor lighting, LED signage, and illumination projects.

The WAVE program will also host a series of seminars in July and August 2025 for local companies interested in developing new business ventures. Practical sessions will be led by experts from AlphaDrive, aimed at providing essential skills and knowledge to participants.
