About Noriko Ogawa


Since winning a prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition over 30 years ago, Noriko Ogawa has carved a niche for herself as an internationally acclaimed pianist. She has collaborated with major orchestras and conductors worldwide and conducted numerous recital tours. Her contributions to music extend beyond performance; she has also participated as a judge in international competitions and has taught masterclasses in various countries.

Her recordings include impressive titles such as her 35th CD release with BIS, featuring Satie's complete piano solo works, and the world premiere recording of Richard Devine's 'Clavilerenia.' Noriko’s talent has graced prestigious platforms such as the BBC Proms in 2013 and 2014, and she has performed as a soloist with orchestras including the Polish National Radio Symphony and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

Noriko holds various esteemed positions, including serving as a professor at the Guildhall School of Music in London and a special guest professor at Tokyo University of the Arts. She is also actively involved in music education, recently promoting online concerts to reach students worldwide despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.

Recognized for her contributions, she has received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s New Artist Award and the Kawasaki City Cultural Award. In November 2017, the Guildhall School awarded her the title of “Fellow” in acknowledgment of her achievements in the field.
