Envision Energy Enters the French Energy Storage Market
Envision Energy, renowned globally for its advancements in green technology including wind turbines, energy storage, and hydrogen solutions, has marked a significant achievement by entering the French energy storage sector. The company has entered into a contract to deliver a sizable energy storage project for Kallista Energy, a notable player in the European renewable energy landscape.
Details of the Project
The project, situated in Saleux, located in the Hauts-de-France region, encompasses an impressive 120 megawatts (MW) of energy storage capacity, translating to 240 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity. This significant development will utilize Envision's cutting-edge technology, featuring a combination of direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) units along with innovative power conversion systems (PCS).
Scheduled to commence construction in June 2025, this initiative marks Envision Energy's inaugural independent battery energy storage contract within France, a country that has become a focal point for their expansion efforts across Europe. As part of the agreement, Envision will implement a long-term maintenance service agreement, spanning a minimum of 14 years, ensuring consistent support even after the completion of the installation.
Partnership with AESC
A key element of the energy storage solution involves the utilization of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery cells, which will be provided by AESC, a leading battery technology firm based in Japan. AESC has a modern Gigafactory with a production capacity of 10 GWh, located conveniently in Douai, also in the Hauts-de-France region, which has already been operating since June 2025. This partnership signifies a critical collaboration aimed at enhancing the technology and efficiency of Envision's energy storage solutions.
Supporting Grid Stability
Henry Peng, Senior Vice President and the head of Envision Energy’s operations in Latin America and Europe, shared insights on the importance of this venture. He stated, "France is a pivotal market for us. Our partnership with Kallista Energy not only signifies a crucial milestone in enhancing our European footprint but also showcases our commitment to providing fully integrated energy solutions that bolster grid stability."
The project is set to supply vital frequency regulation services to France's transmission system operator, Réseau de Transport d'Électricité (RTE), thus contributing to the overall stability of the grid. Envision's energy storage technology is designed to support the transition to a more renewable-driven energy model, which is increasingly essential in the current climate.
