NPO Suma Universal Beach Project to Present at ICC Summit KYOTO 2025

The NPO Suma Universal Beach Project, dedicated to creating inclusive beaches where everyone can enjoy, will feature at the highly anticipated "Industry Co-Creation (ICC) Summit KYOTO 2025," scheduled for September 1-4, 2025. This year's theme, "Changing everyone's 'can't' to 'can,'" underlines the initiative's commitment to promoting accessibility for individuals of all abilities.

Shohei Toshihara, the secretariat head of the project, will take the stage as the first presenter in the "Social Good Catapult" session on September 4 at approximately 9:15 AM. Attendees can expect to see a live stream of this session on YouTube, starting at 9 AM, allowing a wider audience to engage with this significant event.

The ICC Summit is not just a showcase; it's a communal learning environment, featuring over 500 speakers and 1,200 participants across four days, all bound by the shared mission of co-creating industries and addressing societal challenges. The "Social Good Catapult" session will allow practitioners like Toshihara to present their vision and initiatives in seven-minute segments, aiming to inspire and mobilize support for their causes.

Toshihara commented on their mission, stating, "Our goal is to transform everyone’s 'can’t' into 'can!' We have been continuously striving to create an environment where individuals, regardless of disabilities, gender, or age, can enjoy the sea. This year marks our ninth anniversary, and we are proud to have built an incredible community within the beaches of Suma and across the nation.

While we have seen increased recognition from NPOs and government organizations, we still need to raise awareness among larger corporations and startups. For the Universal Beach initiative to reach a broader audience, collaboration with local communities and supportive businesses is essential. We feel honored to have been selected for the ICC Catapult at this crucial time, enabling us to communicate our aspirations directly to the audience.

To us, "going into the sea" is not merely an activity; it symbolizes our ambition to foster a culture across Japan that encourages taking on challenges previously deemed impossible. We are eager to spread this culture, starting from Kobe and Suma, historically significant port cities and the birthplaces of numerous sports.
