Online Guidance for Experienced Civil Service Applicants
On September 25, 2025, from 19:00 to 20:15, TAC will host an online guidance session tailored for experienced candidates aiming for civil service positions. Led by a former public servant and hiring manager, this session will delve into the intricacies of transitioning from the private sector to public service, highlighting both opportunities and expectations.
Valuable Insights for Aspiring Public Servants
The event is designed primarily for individuals in their late 20s or older, who possess considerable work experience in the private sector. Participants will gain fundamental knowledge about the civil service examination system aimed at working professionals, learning about the differences in examination formats, and the various tests available for social job applicants.
During the session, the instructor will cover the latest trends in civil service exams, ensuring that attendees can navigate the information effectively, even if they are starting from scratch. They will discuss the subjects tested in the foundational knowledge exams, as well as the unique aspects of the experienced candidate exams, such as the job experience essay and interview assessments.
Meet the Instructor: Tetsuya Harano
Tetsuya Harano, the course instructor for TAC's experienced civil servant program, brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. Having transitioned from the private sector to special districts, he has amassed experience in welfare, education, policy planning, human resources, facility management, and industrial development. Harano has held management positions for over two decades, even serving as a deputy mayor, leading various administrative functions.
He emphasizes that being a public servant today requires more than just fulfilling assigned duties. He believes that individuals should embody the qualities of being cheerful, energetic, honest, and refreshing. Such characteristics make it easier to forge positive relationships and foster collaboration. Additionally, he stresses the importance of a proactive approach—asking why certain methods are in place and constantly seeking improvements. In an era of reform and change, a public servant must confront challenges head-on and prioritize the needs of the community.
Q&A Session for Participants
The online guidance session will conclude with a Q&A segment, allowing attendees to pose questions regarding the experienced candidate test and other civil service-related inquiries. The instructor is committed to addressing all queries thoroughly, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the path to becoming a public servant.
