Keita Ando's Upcoming Solo Exhibition at YUGEN Gallery Fukuoka
The YUGEN Gallery located in Fukuoka will host an exciting solo exhibition titled "Heat and Decay / Cold and Sprout" by the emerging artist
Keita Ando starting from
January 24, 2026. This showcase is set to include around
50 new works that reflect profound themes of life, death, and cyclical existence. The exhibition is not just about Ando's individual work but also features pieces from contemporary artists who have notably influenced him. These selections from Ando's personal collection will highlight his deep connections with the Southeast Asian art scene and enrich the exhibition's depth.
In conjunction with the exhibition, visitors will have a unique opportunity to participate in a
printmaking workshop on
February 7 and 8, 2026. This hands-on experience will explore the printmaking technique known as
Aluminography, which involves everyday materials like aluminum foil and oil crayons. This method, developed from the principles of lithography, allows for a unique artistic expression while ensuring accessibility for all ages and skill levels. This makes the workshop an inclusive event for families and individuals eager to explore their creativity.
About the Artist: Keita Ando
Keita Ando, born in 1992 in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, is a graduate of the Department of Fine Arts at Kyushu Sangyo University. Ando's evolution as an artist is reflected in his innovative approaches to contemporary art.
Aluminography Workshop Experience
The Aluminography workshop aims to provide participants with an enchanting glimpse into a technique that balances artistic complexity with accessibility. During the workshop, participants will learn the step-by-step processes involved in creating prints, experiencing the joy of drawing and printing using straightforward materials and techniques. This artistic method evolved in Malaysia, emphasizing resourcefulness amidst limited access to traditional printmaking supplies. Participants will thus gain insight into different cultural environments that shape artistic practices.

reception to launch the exhibition will occur on the opening day, January 24, from
4 PM to 7 PM, where attendees can enjoy refreshments and engage in conversation with Keita Ando himself.
