Lime's Groundbreaking Electric Mobility Launch in Chiba
In an exciting development for urban mobility, Lime, a leading electric mobility-sharing service company from Tokyo, has partnered with JR East to participate in the inaugural mobility hub project, "Chiba Pratto." This initiative represents the first deployment of Lime's seated electric mobility device known as "Lime Rakumo" in Chiba Prefecture.
The Lime Rakumo allows users to travel comfortably and safely on a seated electric board, which is specifically designed for ease of use compared to traditional standing models. This innovative mobility option will be operational across four mobility ports in and around Chiba Station, aiming to enhance personal transportation options and encourage local exploration.
On September 23, Lime will host a trial event at Chiba Station, followed by a grand opening event for the Chiba Pratto on September 28. These events will provide participants with the opportunity to experience the Lime Rakumo firsthand. For media representatives interested in covering these events, detailed information will be provided soon.

Introducing the Lime Rakumo
The Lime Rakumo, a notable type of electric board equipped with seating and storage, currently accounts for over 70% of Lime's domestic fleet. The vehicle's design prioritizes safety and convenience, appealing particularly to women and seniors as a reliable mode of daily transport.
The name "Rakumo" is derived from a fusion of the Japanese term "Raku" meaning 'easy to ride' and "Mo" denoting 'mobility,' resulting in the catchy brand name.
Lime Utilization and Impact
Lime boasts a significant presence with electric micro-mobility services spanning across approximately 30 countries worldwide, achieving hundreds of millions of rides across five continents. Users in Japan can simply reserve a Lime vehicle found at designated ports through the dedicated app, ride it to their destination, and return it to any Lime port, ensuring flexibility and ease.
Starting in August 2024, Lime will formally commence its services in Japan, focusing on short-distance urban transport alternatives through its seated electric boards. The company's mission is to advance electric micro-mobility as a mainstream public transit option, fostering a sustainable future and a carbon-free environment.
