Revitalizing the Edagawa Area: A Community Initiative
The Edagawa Station Town Development Council, in collaboration with Tokyo Metro and PIAZZA, is set to host an exciting community-oriented event on September 27, 2026. Titled
Edagawa-Shiohama Town Development DAY - Edamachi Marche Vol. 2, this event will take place at the scenic Shiohama Canal area near the Shiohama Bridge and the roadway in front of Shiozaki Nursery School.
Purpose and Vision
This popular event is strategically aligned with the upcoming opening of a new subway station (tentatively named Edagawa Station) on the Yurakucho Line, which is expected to tap into significant urban development opportunities. The primary aim is to create an avenue for engagement among local residents, businesses, and organizations to foster a sense of community and vibrancy.
Transforming a normally transient waterfront area into a bustling hub, the event will feature vendors offering various goods and foods at a lively marketplace. Participants can look forward to a range of activities—from fishing and nature exhibits to planting workshops and live stage performances—ensuring fun for all ages, from children to adults.
The event is not just about enjoyment; it serves as an opportunity to recruit a diverse mix of local vendors and exhibitors, fostering connections within the community and transforming the waterfront into a true gathering space. It aims to rediscover the area's charms and create new opportunities for interactions and activities among residents and visitors alike.

Collaborating for Community Growth
The Edagawa Station Town Development Council was established in July 2025 to spearhead local-focused development proactive strategies ahead of the anticipated railway station opening. The council is dedicated to enabling and encouraging residents, organizations, and enterprises in the Edagawa and Shiohama areas to actively participate in their community development.
Tokyo Metro will continue to engage with locals to brainstorm ideas for a vibrant urban environment. Meanwhile, PIAZZA will leverage its experience in urban development and community formation to build connections among various stakeholders.
Through this collaborative event, the organizations aim to create a networking platform whereby local residents, workers, and visitors can form bonds, fostering love and new activities linked to the Edagawa and Shiohama locales.
Addressing Community Needs
With the future station opening, changes in community dynamics and foot traffic are anticipated in the Edagawa and Shiohama area. The trio of organizations—Edagawa Station Town Development Council, Tokyo Metro, and PIAZZA—takes this as a chance to capitalize on local resources and charm, prompting networks between residents, shops, organizations, and businesses that can prompt new initiatives for development.
The
Edagawa-Shiohama Town Development DAY - Edamachi Marche Vol. 2 will serve as a platform for local residents to share perspectives on creating an ideal community, as well as innovative uses for the waterfront space.
