Celebrating Ten Years of Make Music Day: A Global Music Extravaganza by NAMM and Make Music Alliance
A Decade of Music Celebration: Make Music Day 2025
In a vibrant celebration of creativity and community, the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) and the Make Music Alliance proudly announce the tenth anniversary of their partnership, culminating in the spectacular Make Music Day 2025. On June 21, communities across the globe will revel in the beauty and unity of music-making, as thousands of free events mark the largest global celebration of music.
Make Music Day is unique in that it transcends traditional music festivals; it is an open invitation for anyone, regardless of age or skill, to create and share music. This year, more than 5,000 concerts, jam sessions, and music lessons will occur nationwide, powered by the dedicated efforts of over 200 NAMM member organizations.
Engagement and Accessibility
NAMM and the Make Music Alliance emphasize accessibility and engagement. The organization's motto is simple: everyone can make music. By transforming everyday spaces—parks, streets, and rooftops—into vibrant stages, participants can freely express their musical talents and connect with others.
Notable NAMM members, including Elixir Strings and Harman, are working tirelessly to give back to their local communities through innovative initiatives. Elixir Strings, for example, will provide free guitar string-changing sessions at participating music retailers, serving the first 12 registrants at each store. This hands-on approach not only engages budding musicians but also fosters a sense of community among participants.
In New York City, Harman is set to create a music-making experience contained within a Cadillac OPTIQ Electric SUV. This vehicle features a sophisticated AKG Dolby Atmos sound system, inviting participants to step inside, choose a song, and sing along with professional backup singers. This immersive experience aims to spark creativity and excitement, allowing individuals to express themselves in an entirely new way.
Community-Building Through Music
Music's role in fostering community connections cannot be overstated. As John Mlynczak, president and CEO of NAMM, highlights,
