Arizona State University Expands Global Reach with New London Campus

ASU Launches ASU London Campus

Arizona State University (ASU) is making significant strides in global education with the launch of ASU London, an independent higher education institution accredited in the UK. This development signals ASU's commitment to expanding its influence and providing innovative learning opportunities across the globe. This new venture builds upon the success of The Engineering Design Institute London (TEDI-London), co-founded by ASU in 2020, which has garnered attention for its project-based approach to education.

Transforming Higher Education in the UK

ASU London stands as a testament to the evolving educational landscape, incorporating TEDI-London's successful project-oriented programs in engineering while also introducing new degree offerings in business management, computer science, as well as electrical and electronic engineering. The unique curriculum structure enables students to earn a three-year bachelor's degree from ASU London and, upon completion, pursue an accelerated one-year master's degree from Arizona State University in the United States. This innovative model allows dedicated students to obtain two internationally recognized degrees in a span of just four years, thus streamlining the education process and significantly reducing tuition costs while also offering an enriching international experience.

ASU President Michael Crow emphasized the institution's dedication to developing students as master problem solvers prepared for success in the modern global economy. He underlined the synergy between British academic traditions and American innovation in applied learning, all set against the historic and vibrant backdrop of London.

Curriculum Designed for Real-World Application

Known officially as the ASU London Centre for Advanced Learning, the institution's curriculum is crafted in close collaboration with distinguished academics from both the U.S. and the U.K., as well as industry experts. This collaborative effort aims to deliver practical, real-world learning experiences, allowing students to immerse themselves in London’s global culture under the guidance of both U.K.-based faculty and ASU's own instructors from their Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering and W. P. Carey School of Business.

Professor Sir Malcolm Grant, chair of the Board of Trustee Directors of ASU London, highlighted ASU's high ranking among U.S. universities for graduate employment, reinforcing the importance of practical education in preparing students for future careers. He stated that ASU London is uniquely positioned to allow students to “learn as professionals in-training,” enhancing technical, professional, and leadership skills that are highly sought after by employers across various industries.
