Sport Clips Haircuts Kicks Off 13th Annual "Help A Hero" Campaign
Sport Clips Haircuts, established by a veteran, is once again rallying support for America's veterans this fall. The franchise has initiated its 13th annual campaign for the
VFW's Help A Hero Scholarship program, which operates from October 5 through November 14, 2026. This initiative provides clients with an opportunity to directly contribute to the educational aspirations of veterans and active service members transitioning into civilian life.
On Veterans Day, November 11, participating Sport Clips locations will honor veterans and active-duty members by offering them complimentary haircuts. This gesture extends beyond just a haircut; it symbolizes gratitude and an affirmation of their service.
Gordon Logan, founder and chairman of Sport Clips, emphasizes the importance of supporting veterans. “As an Air Force veteran, I recognize how crucial it is for those who have served to be afforded opportunities to forge their path post-service,” he stated. The Help A Hero initiative represents a commitment that goes beyond a mere acknowledgment on Veterans Day—it aims to foster growth for veterans as they pursue education and careers.
Since its inception, this program has made a significant impact, raising nearly $17 million and offering over 3,600 scholarships through the VFW Foundation. Each scholarship can provide veterans and service members at the E-5 rank and below with up to $5,000 per semester to aid them in their educational journeys.
VFW National Commander Cory Geisler highlighted the importance of these scholarships, pointing out the financial hurdles veterans often face post-service. He remarked, “Every year, I meet veterans who did everything right but see their educational benefits run out before they can complete their degrees. That gap shouldn't fall on a veteran's future.” The Support provided through this campaign is a direct intervention to alleviate those burdens.
This year, the campaign has gained visibility through the involvement of Cincinnati Bengals player Landon Robinson, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate and Marine Corps second lieutenant. Robinson's dual commitment to his military service and budding professional football career adds another layer to this significant initiative.
Highlighting the personal stories enabled by the Help A Hero program, U.S. Army veteran Michael Ventura, who has benefited from the scholarships three times, is currently working toward his Master of Fine Arts degree at Texas State University. Ventura’s journey from military service to academic pursuit embodies the program's mission. After serving over three years in the Army, including deployment in South Korea, he aspires to leverage his education for creative writing, enriching the lives of others while pursuing personal growth.
The Help A Hero program ensures that veterans can pursue their educational goals without the added financial stress of balancing expenses. Since the campaign is supported by the generosity of clients who choose to donate at participating locations, Sport Clips embodies a community that cares about giving back.
