Join Us for Artist Park Project Vol. 8 Featuring Akane Saijo

The Chain Museum, headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, is excited to announce the eighth installment of its Artist Park Project, set to take place on April 21, 2026, from 18:30 to 20:30 at the gallery and dining venue known as "Art or Rice Noodles - Paichu." This exclusive event will showcase guest artist Akane Saijo and is tailored specifically for active artists seeking a space to connect and communicate.

What to Expect

The Artist Park Project is designed as a networking opportunity for artists to share insights on various challenges, including artwork creation, studio management, and more. The event will feature a conversation with our guest artist, discussing both the triumphs and struggles they have faced in their careers. It is a unique platform where artists can engage in an open dialogue, fostering a collaborative community.

In collaboration with the renowned whiskey brand Johnny Walker, patrons of this event will enjoy specially crafted cocktails and exclusive menus from Paichu, which aims to unite culinary experiences with artistic exploration.

Meet the Guest Artist: Akane Saijo

Akane Saijo, born in 1989 in Hyogo and now based in Kyoto, is a distinguished artist known for her innovative approach to ceramics. She completed her master's degree in ceramic arts at Kyoto City University of Arts in 2014 and has exhibited in various prestigious locations, including the Kyoto National Museum of Modern Art and the Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum.

Her work often explores the concept of 'bodily presence' through ceramics and performance art, emphasizing the internal voids and glossy surfaces of her pieces. Additionally, Saijo has engaged with various regional potteries around the world, drawing inspiration from local legends and historical narratives.
