Kawai Juku Enhances 'tokuMo' with New Subjects
Kawai Juku has announced a significant update to its AI-driven ICT textbook, 'tokuMo,' tailored for high school education. This latest enhancement now includes the addition of new subjects for Japanese language and social studies, making the platform more comprehensive and user-friendly.
New Additions to 'tokuMo'
1.
Japanese Language Enhancements
The update introduces 'Gendai-bun' (Modern Japanese) and 'Kan-bun' (Classical Chinese) to the Japanese language section. The 'Gendai-bun' module features a total of 1,449 questions covering reading comprehension, kanji, grammar, and literary history. This allows students to engage in a wide array of learning, from knowledge-based questions to comprehension exercises.
For 'Kan-bun,' all questions are displayed in vertical writing, honoring traditional formatting. Students can learn the basics of kanbun grammar, vocabulary, and explore about 200 questions on classical poetry.
2.
New Subjects in Social Studies
The update also brings four new subjects to the social studies curriculum: 'Comprehensive Geography,' 'Geography Exploration,' 'Ethics,' and 'Political Economy.' Collectively, these new subjects add over 700 questions, with 'Comprehensive Geography' and 'Geography Exploration' contributing 250 questions, 'Ethics' with 139, and 'Political Economy' with an extensive 310 questions. These programs leverage Kawai Juku's expertise in educational methodologies to enhance students' academic capabilities from foundational skills to university entrance exam levels.
3.
Addition of Biology Questions
The 'Biology' section has been reinforced with 100 new questions to facilitate a more effective learning experience. In conjunction, Kawai Juku is currently running a summer trial campaign allowing schools and local governments to access 'tokuMo' for free until the end of August.
Learning Effectiveness of 'tokuMo'
Surveys conducted in schools utilizing 'tokuMo' indicate that nearly half of the participating students reported an increased focus on their weaker subjects. Particularly among second-year high school students, there has been a notable feedback of heightened learning intensity and motivation. A comparative analysis of mock exam scores between users and non-users showed a significant improvement for the users; the proportion of students with a score of 60 or above doubled, while the segment scoring below 50 was halved. This data illustrates that 'tokuMo' not only enhances performance among high achievers but also promotes greater engagement and improvement in subjects where students previously struggled, confirming the effectiveness of ICT learning tools.
