Cyclyx Announces Major Investment for New Plastic Recycling Facility in Texas

Cyclyx to Establish Second Circularity Center

Cyclyx International, a leader in transforming post-use plastic into valuable feedstock, has announced a significant step in its mission to enhance plastic recycling infrastructure. The company, which is a collaboration between Agilyx, ExxonMobil, and LyondellBasell, has finalized plans for a second Cyclyx Circularity Center (CCC2) located in the Fort Worth area of Texas. This investment marks a critical advancement towards creating a sustainable circular economy for plastics.

Investment and Facility Details

With an investment totaling $135 million from its joint venture partners, CCC2 is expected to be operational by the latter half of 2026. The new facility aims to process around 300 million pounds of plastic waste each year, utilizing both mechanical and advanced recycling technologies. This project follows the first Cyclyx Circularity Center, which is currently being developed in Houston and projected to begin operations in 2025.

Joe Vaillancourt, the CEO of Cyclyx, expressed his enthusiasm regarding this development. He stated, "This new world-class facility will significantly expand our capability to supply the growing industry demand for feedstock for both mechanical and advanced recycling." He emphasized the critical need for improved infrastructure to handle various types of plastic waste that typically end up in landfills or incineration.

Job Creation and Economic Impact

Apart from contributing to recycling efforts, CCC2 is set to create over 100 local jobs, fostering economic growth within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The establishment of this facility is not only a boon for environmental efforts but also enhances the local job market.

Unique Recycling Strategies

Cyclyx Circularity Centers are uniquely equipped to manage a variety of plastic waste streams often overlooked by traditional recycling programs. With CCC1 and CCC2 combined, Cyclyx will be able to produce an estimated total of 600 million pounds of recycled feedstock annually. This capability is a giant leap toward a more circular approach in the plastic industry, which has struggled with waste management for decades.

The company's ongoing strategy includes the exploration of additional Circularity Centers in major hubs across the United States, further reinforcing its commitment to sustainable practices and the reduction of plastic waste.

Conclusion

As the demand for recycled plastics continues to rise, Cyclyx is at the forefront of innovative solutions that promise to reshape how societies approach waste management and recycling. By investing in high-capacity facilities like CCC2, the company is not just addressing the immediate concerns of plastic waste but also paving the way for a more sustainable future.

Cyclyx’s efforts represent a progressive shift in corporate responsibility towards the environment and the economy, proving that collaborative approaches can yield comprehensive solutions to some of the most pressing challenges of our time.
