Dionisio Gutiérrez Honored with the XI Enrique V. Iglesias Award
On June 3, 2025, the prestigious XI Enrique V. Iglesias Award for the Development of Ibero-America was presented to Dionisio Gutiérrez, President of the Fundación Libertad y Desarrollo. This recognition highlights his exceptional contributions to civic and business leadership within the Ibero-American community.
The award ceremony took place during a tribute dinner at the VIII Ibero-American Congress organized by CEAPI, from June 2 to 4 in Seville, Spain. This year’s congress celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Consejo Empresarial Alianza por Iberoamérica (CEAPI) with the theme “Connecting Continents, Building Opportunities.”
Established in 2014, the Enrique V. Iglesias Award acknowledges leaders who have significantly contributed to both economic and entrepreneurial development in Ibero-America, promoting an inclusive spirit that shares common challenges and values. Named after Enrique V. Iglesias, the first Ibero-American Secretary General of the SEGIB and current honorary president of CEAPI, the award is a symbol of excellence in leadership.
The jury for this award consists of distinguished figures from Ibero-American society, including Núria Vilanova, President of CEAPI; Ana Botella, President of Fundación Integra; Ana Botín, President of Grupo Santander; and Juan Luis Cebrián, Honorary President of El País. Previous recipients of this prestigious award include notable figures such as Valentín Díez Morodo, Plácido Arango, Alejandro Bulgheroni, Ana Botín, and Carlos Slim.
Núria Vilanova commended Dionisio Gutiérrez as an outstanding example of leadership and strategic vision. She remarked, “Dionisio Gutiérrez embodies an extraordinary pursuit of improvement and early leadership, which, with experience and the passage of decades, has only continued to grow.”
In his acceptance speech, Gutiérrez expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating, “The best words I can share today upon receiving this honorable and undeserved award are sincere recognition to those who confer it.” He emphasized that this award should inspire more efforts toward promoting dignity, intelligence, and hope in society.
The official award presentation will take place later this year, graced by His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain. This upcoming event promises to further highlight Gutiérrez's contributions and the impact of his efforts on Ibero-American development.
