Japan's SME Owners Association Launches Seminar Project
The Japan Small and Medium Business Owners Association (JSMBOA), based in Chiyoda, Tokyo and led by Chairman Tetsumei Ishiguro, has officially launched the "2026 Donation Project for 100 Free Seminars." This initiative aims to provide municipalities, support organizations, and industry groups across the nation with access to expert-led presentations at no cost. The target is to conduct 100 seminars annually focusing on critical topics such as recruitment, grants, fundraising, tax-saving strategies, mergers, and business succession.
Background of the Initiative: The Growing Information Gap in SMEs
In recent times, the business environment for SMEs has been rapidly changing due to rising labor and raw material costs, as well as the need to adapt to new legal reforms. While government and local authorities have increased support systems year by year, many SMEs remain unaware of which programs they can utilize. Common barriers include a lack of opportunities to consult with experts, limited access to quality information locally, and confusion over available assistance.
This leaves a significant number of enterprises unable to take advantage of the resources that could potentially benefit them. Addressing this information imbalance is crucial, which necessitates increasing opportunities to deliver accurate information to these businesses. However, many local governments and industry organizations face challenges such as lack of budget for inviting external experts, difficulty in finding suitable speakers, and declining participation rates due to repetitive content. In response to these concerns, the JSMBOA has established this project.
Key Features of the Project
Feature 1: High-Quality Seminars Without Financial Burden
The seminars will be conducted as part of pro bono activities, allowing host organizations to focus solely on arranging the venue and notifying their members while providing quality seminars at no cost (with the exception of covering the travel expenses of the speakers). This makes it suitable for organizations that may struggle with budget constraints for hiring outside speakers.
Feature 2: Speakers from Diverse Professional Fields
Industry experts will lead sessions on themes closely related to management, including recruitment, grants, fundraising, tax-saving strategies, and mergers and acquisitions. By bringing in professionals who are actively engaged in their respective fields, the seminars promise to deliver the latest information and practical insights, ensuring high satisfaction among participating companies.
Feature 3: Comprehensive Support from Planning to Promotion
Organizations unsure about preferred seminar themes can also seek assistance from the JSMBOA. The association will offer proposals for seminar topics that align with current trends and regional characteristics, and provide promotional materials, including announcement texts for flyers, to ensure effective outreach.
Process from Request to Seminar Day
The entire process, from inquiry to the day of the seminar, follows these steps:
1.
Inquiry: Contact the JSMBOA through their online form, sharing your desired themes and dates.
