Ikubunkan Global High School Hosts Symposium on Global Career Paths and Inquiry Learning

Ikubunkan Global High School Hosts a Major Symposium on December 20, 2025

Ikubunkan Global High School (IGHS), renowned for its exceptional record in direct admissions to overseas universities, is set to hold its '2025 Collaborative Seminars & Independent Inquiry Results Symposium' on December 20, 2025. This significant event will showcase the creative and academic achievements of first-year students as they reflect on their year-long learning journey while receiving valuable insights from a variety of esteemed experts.

A Landmark Event

The symposium is designed to encourage students to present their findings from both Collaborative Seminars and independent inquiry projects. It serves as a culmination of their efforts throughout the academic year, fostering a space for reflection and feedback. This year, the keynote speaker will be Dr. May-yi Shaw, the Chief of Staff at Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ). Her speech, titled 'Choosing Your Path and Career from a World Map through English Proficiency and Inquiry,' aims to inspire students to consider their future paths holistically within a global context.

Program Highlights

The event will take place in the IGHS gymnasium, running from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Interested participants—including students, educators, and parents—will find that the program offers a robust schedule:
  • - 9:00–9:10 AM: Opening remarks and distinguished guest introductions.
  • - 9:10–9:40 AM: Keynote by Dr. Shaw.
  • - 9:40–10:50 AM: Presentations by various seminar groups, with each group's performance lasting about eight minutes.
  • - 11:00–11:55 AM: Poster presentations from the first-year students, offered in English by the Honors class.
  • - 12:00–12:20 PM: General comments and feedback from notable guests, including representatives from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Soka University, and Red Arrow Therapeutics, Inc.

The Concept Behind IGHS

IGHS emphasizes the need for students to connect their interests and strengths with real-world challenges through the lens of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The learning approach encourages depth of inquiry through collaboration with outside professionals across various fields, including international cooperation, STEAM, business, human sciences, and more.

As part of the school's educational philosophy, the Collaborative Seminars span three years, allowing students to embark on a journey of learning that culminates in a thesis-level presentation in their final year. In the first year, students initiate research on topics they’re passionate about. The following year focuses on practical application through study abroad experiences and internships, while the final year is dedicated to presenting comprehensive research findings.

Continuous Growth in International Education

In 2025, it is projected that nearly 40% of IGHS graduates will advance to overseas universities, with a significant number securing placements in top-ranking institutions worldwide. The school has seen a remarkable increase in its direct admission rate to international universities, attaining a record six-fold increase in the last three years alone. This has earned IGHS the prestigious title of having the highest admission rate to overseas universities in Japan.

Invitation to Participate

This free event is open to all stakeholders, including students from IGHS, their families, educators, aspiring students, and media representatives. Registration for the symposium is required by December 19, 2025, at noon. Participants are encouraged to utilize public transport, as there is no parking available on-site. While attendees may capture the event through photography and videography, sharing student presentations on social media is prohibited.
