2025 AXA Art Prize U.S. Now Accepting Submissions
AXA XL is excited to announce that submissions for the eighth edition of the AXA Art Prize in the United States are officially open. The esteemed competition seeks figurative paintings, drawings, and prints from both undergraduate and graduate art students across the nation. The deadline for entries is set for
March 25, 2025, at
11:59 PM EST.
Since its launch in 2018, the AXA Art Prize has become a crucial stepping stone for emerging artists, providing them with a valuable opportunity to have their art evaluated by respected curators, critics, and art collectors.
Lucy Pilko, CEO of AXA XL Americas, shared her enthusiasm: "As an insurer, we recognize the importance of safeguarding artistic legacies and fostering creativity. We take pride in supporting the next generation of artists, offering them an exceptional platform to showcase their talents and gain recognition."
The competition unfolds in three distinct rounds. The first stage involves initial submissions evaluated by Regional Juries comprised of members from the AXA Art Prize Strategic Advisory Board alongside representatives from thirty leading studio art programs, such as the
Rhode Island School of Design,
California College of the Arts, and the
School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Following this, an Exhibition Jury, made up of curators from prestigious museums across the country, will shortlist
40 artists.
The 40 chosen finalists will be featured prominently in the
AXA Art Prize U.S. Exhibition, set to take place in New York in November 2025. Winners of the First Prize and Second Prize will be selected by a panel of renowned contemporary artists, receiving awards of
$10,000 and
$5,000 respectively.
Jennifer Schipf, Global Chief Underwriting Officer for Fine Art & Specie at AXA XL, expressed her optimism for this year’s submissions: "As we eagerly anticipate the eighth edition of the Prize in the U.S., I am deeply inspired by the potential that these artists possess. Together with our art world partners, we are dedicated to protecting and promoting art, ensuring it remains a vibrant part of our cultural landscape."
