Inauguration of the Shabyt Creativity Center
On June 3, 2026, in a significant gesture marking International Children's Day, the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation officially opened the Shabyt Children's and Youth Creativity Center in Zhezkazgan, Kazakhstan. This establishment is notably the largest facility of its kind to be built in the city in over 70 years, providing modern resources aimed at fostering the growth and development of children in the region.
The project, which involved a financial commitment of 7.7 million dollars, was graciously donated to the city after its completion. This center aims to create a nurturing environment where children can engage in diverse educational and recreational activities tailored to their interests and needs.
Features of the Shabyt Center
The creativity center spans an impressive 2,600 square meters and includes 14 specialized classrooms designed to accommodate various learning activities. It features a STEM unit equipped with facilities for robotics, mathematics, and natural sciences, along with dedicated spaces for art, pottery, digital design, photography, music, chess, martial arts, and dance.
Complementing these rooms are a developmental area for early learners and a spacious meeting room, making it possible for the center to host up to 250 children at a time. There are also provisions for medical care, staff areas, and co-working spaces, ensuring a comprehensive support system for both children and adults.
The complex includes a 1.6-hectare outdoor area that encompasses sports fields and playgrounds, thereby enhancing children's physical activities. Furthermore, the building has been designed with inclusivity in mind, offering spaces that cater to children with varying needs, including a dedicated sensory room that fosters an inclusive learning environment.
Vision for the Future
Almaz Sharman, the chairman of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation Board, emphasized the foundation's commitment to education and community development during the inauguration. He remarked, “Supporting education and creating modern infrastructure for child development are among the foundation's primary activities. These projects represent long-term investments in communities and contribute to the future of our country. I am confident that the new Shabyt center will create first-rate opportunities for complementary education and the creative and professional development of children in the region.”
Dastan Ryspekov, the Akim of the Ulytau region, who was present at the opening ceremony, underscored the project's broader impact: “The new center is not just a modern building; it is a space where children can learn, develop their talents, and engage in technological, creative, and sports activities. These projects create an environment where young generations can confidently envision their futures.”
The Shabyt Creativity Center is the latest addition to a series of social infrastructure projects initiated by the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation across Kazakhstan. Other notable projects include the construction of schools in Yesik and Kosshy, a new airport in Kyzylorda, and a community center in Kosshy. Each of these initiatives reflects the foundation's commitment to enhancing the quality of life and fostering education in the country.
Through this center, the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation aims to provide children with the skills, creativity, and confidence needed for future success, establishing an enduring legacy of support for the youth of Kazakhstan.
