Looop Supports Elementary School Rugby with International Expedition for Winners

Looop's Commitment to Rugby and Children

Looop Inc., headquartered in Taito, Tokyo, is dedicated to promoting a free energy society and facilitating renewable energy awareness. On January 11 and 12, 2026, Looop will be a special sponsor for the 18th Annual Heroes Cup, a national rugby tournament for elementary school children. This sponsorship specifically supports the winning team by providing them an overseas expedition, emphasizing the necessity of exposing young athletes to global experiences.

The initiative aims to create opportunities that change the future for children participating in rugby. The expedition will be overseen by former Japan national team player, Akihito Yamada, who will also provide the team with unique expedition jerseys. This program is more than an athletic contest; it represents a pathway toward personal and athletic development, equipping the young players with the goals and experiences pivotal for growth.

Vision and Background

Founded in April 2011, Looop's journey began in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake when the company successfully illuminated devastated areas with solar power. This purpose-driven mission aligns with Looop's vision: to cultivate a sustainable society through renewable energy. Achieving the 15-year milestone this year signifies an ongoing commitment to future generations. By sponsoring the Heroes Cup, Looop reinforces its objective to nurture young minds to embrace challenges, and the company believes that its support can help elevate the quality of rugby in Japan.

Discussions between Looop's CEO, Soichiro Nakamura, and Yamada birthed this project, focused on how to help Japan’s rugby team secure victories in international tournaments. Japanese rugby faces structural challenges, such as the late start in the sport for children compared to their global counterparts. With over 8,000 aspiring athletes participating, the Heroes Cup serves as a platform that sets the stage for these young athletes to aim high on a global level.

Importance of the International Expedition

The winning team of the Heroes Cup will embark on an overseas expedition scheduled for late March 2026, during spring break. Only the players from the winning team will qualify for this trip, and they will engage in matches against local junior teams. This international exposure aims to cultivate a broader perspective, allowing participants to experience rugby in a global context, enhancing their skills, determination, and passion for the game.

Looop's support also encompasses the provision of original expedition jerseys that feature both Looop and Heroes Cup branding, ensuring that the players feel united and proud as they represent their country on an international stage.

Details of the Heroes Cup

The 18th Heroes Cup, organized by the NPO Heroes, takes place at Yokohama’s Nissan Stadium and Nissan Field Kozukue with 16 teams competing after intense local competitions with a participation of 306 teams nationwide. Looop encourages the spirit of competition, collaboration, and exploration among young athletes.

Future Directions and Insights

Soichiro Nakamura, the CEO of Looop, expresses, 'This victory opens the door to the world. We are wholeheartedly supporting children as they encounter global opportunities through rugby, aiming for them to seize new possibilities. We hope this project, which began from discussions with Yamada, becomes a lasting asset for children and aids in elevating Japanese rugby to the highest level.' Looop aspires to continue its mission of shaping the next generation through such enriching experiences while revolutionizing energy management and promoting sustainable energy practices.
