Steel Dynamics Restructures Leadership Team Amid New Opportunities in Aluminum Production
Leadership Changes at Steel Dynamics
Steel Dynamics, Inc. has recently disclosed significant transitions within its senior operational leadership team. As of October 1, 2025, Glenn Pushis, currently serving as Senior Vice President for Special Projects, will retire to take on the role of CEO at McBride Capital Partners, focusing on a titanium manufacturing facility in North Carolina. Post-retirement, Pushis will remain involved with Steel Dynamics by providing consulting services pertaining to the setup of new aluminum flat-rolled facilities throughout 2025.
Pushis has been an integral part of Steel Dynamics since its inception in 1994, overseeing various successful projects. His recent achievements include the establishment of a modern aluminum flat-rolled products mill in Columbus, Mississippi, which produces over 650,000 metric tons annually with a focus on lower carbon emissions. His previous roles within the company have included oversight of key long products steel mills, making him a versatile leader with extensive operational expertise.
In conjunction with Pushis’s retirement, Miguel Alvarez will step into a critical leadership position, taking charge of the company’s aluminum operations starting October 1, 2025. Alvarez joined Steel Dynamics in 2019 and has played a pivotal role in the company's growth strategies within the Southwest United States and Mexico, contributing significantly to its metals recycling and flat-rolled steel operations. His previous leadership of the metals recycling platform evidences his capability and readiness to expand the aluminum operations, particularly with the firm's new strategic investments underway.
CEO Mark D. Millett expressed great appreciation for Pushis’s contributions, highlighting his enthusiasm and commitment to excellence over many years. “He has been central to the successful growth of our operations,” Millett stated. The CEO also conveyed confidence in Alvarez’s leadership capabilities, emphasizing his track record of fostering service, efficiency, and supply chain solutions development.
Steel Dynamics operates with a commitment to sustainable practices, centered around a circular manufacturing model. The firm notably prioritizes lowering carbon emissions while delivering high-quality metal products. It is significantly recognized as one of the largest steel producers and metal recyclers in North America. The recent leadership changes reflect the company's dedication to nurturing talent and ensuring sustainable growth in the face of industry shifts.
As Steel Dynamics prepares for these transitions, expectations remain high for continued success and innovation. The company plans to announce the new senior leader for its metals recycling platform imminently as part of its intentional leadership development and succession process. Overall, with the strategic leadership transitions, Steel Dynamics is poised to further enhance its stature within both the aluminum and steel production sectors, while striving for operational excellence and environmental sustainability.
