The Journey from Railway to Runway: A Sustainable Fashion Experience
On November 30, 2025, the first-ever fashion show titled
'RAILWAY TO RUNWAY' will take place at
Shibuya Bridge, a unique venue built on the remnants of the former Tokyu Toyoko Line elevated railway. This exciting event is organized by
Global Agents, in collaboration with Tokyu Corporation, aiming to showcase sustainable fashion in a creative and colorful way.
At the heart of this initiative is
DOKKA Vivid, a dynamic creative duo known for their innovative approach to upcycled fashion. DOKKA Vivid will present nine vibrant outfits crafted from vintage clothing collected in Shibuya, redefining the perception of sustainable fashion, often associated with earthy tones and muted colors. Instead, audiences can expect a burst of vivid colors and bold designs that celebrate creativity and individual expression.
The fashion show will feature stunning models adorned in these upcycled garments, with an exciting performance from
Matsuyama Ika, a Tokyo-based digital creator known for her engaging social media presence and artistic endeavors. The event promises to be a feast for the senses, combining fashion with art and music, enhancing the allure of creativity.
A Venue Steeped in History
The location,
Shibuya Bridge, stands as a testament to the area's vibrant culture and history. By transforming this former railway space into a runway, the event not only acknowledges Shibuya's past but also heralds a new beginning for local fashion and cultural expression. Attendees can immerse themselves in this unique atmosphere, where history meets the future of fashion.
Event Highlights
The event will kick off at
1:00 PM, with the fashion show itself starting at
2:00 PM. Entry to the show is
free, but reservation is required for the first 100 guests. Additionally, the venue will also host a
pop-up shop featuring DOKKA Vivid's creations and a series of
workshops for those interested in hands-on creative experiences.
Upcycling Community Engagement
In the spirit of sustainability, a fitting clothing collection initiative will take place from
September 5 to September 30, 2025, across three locations in Shibuya. Participants are encouraged to donate unwanted clothes (excluding black, white, or grey items) to help in the creation of the outfits. This initiative allows community members to actively contribute to the artistic process, turning their discarded clothing into runway-ready looks.
To further sweeten the deal, anyone bringing old clothes to the
Shibuya Upcycle Festival on September 20 will receive a drink ticket valid at the hotel’s attached restaurant,
Graphic Grill & Bar.
Engaging Workshops
Everyone will have the opportunity to participate in workshops led by DOKKA Vivid, focusing on using transfer sheets to upcycle old garments into personalized fashion statements. These workshops will take place on the same day as the fashion show, from
3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, accommodating six participants per session. It’s a unique chance to connect with the designers and learn about practical ways to contribute to sustainable fashion.
A Vision for the Future
DOKKA Vivid, the designers behind this colorful spectacle, are a Z-generation duo known for their eclectic mix of styles and cultural influences. They gained international recognition by winning the Grand Prix at the
Asia Fashion Collection in 2022 and showcased their upcycled collections at
New York Fashion Week. Their commitment to sustainability presents a fresh narrative in contemporary fashion, revitalizing the wasteful nature of fast fashion.
Meanwhile,
Matsuyama Ika, whose work as a digital creator focuses on retro and vibrant aesthetics, will add an artistic flair to the event.
Conclusion
As
'RAILWAY TO RUNWAY' approaches, anticipation builds not only for an evening of fashion but also for a movement towards sustainability and community engagement. Join us at Shibuya Bridge to witness this transformative event and help pave the way for a brighter, greener future in fashion.
