PenFed Foundation Launches Veteran Entrepreneur Accelerator Program for May 2026
The PenFed Foundation for Military Heroes recently announced its May 2026 cohort for the Veteran Entrepreneur Program, a unique accelerator designed to support veterans and military spouses in their entrepreneurial journeys. This initiative, rooted in a commitment to the successful transition of veterans from active service to civilian life, emphasizes community, mentorship, and innovative thinking to bolster business growth.
A Comprehensive Program
The Veteran Entrepreneur Program begins with a three-day in-person session held in Tysons, Virginia, followed by six weeks of virtual learning. Participants are provided with an array of resources, including networking opportunities, roundtable discussions, one-on-one mentorship from experienced business leaders, and guidance on how to secure funding. By focusing on marketing strategies, communication skills, and investor relations, the program aims to equip veteran entrepreneurs with the knowledge necessary for sustainable success.
Terry Williams, a retired U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. and director of the program, expressed excitement about hosting the new cohort. He noted that the unique qualities veterans possess, such as discipline, adaptability, and leadership, make them particularly suited for entrepreneurship. The program itself is provided at no cost to participants, and importantly, the PenFed Foundation does not take equity in the businesses that it supports. This structure enables entrepreneurs to maintain ownership and control over their enterprises while benefiting from the Foundation's resources and networks.
