Celebrating 5th Anniversary with the Kids Paint Workshop at Kitanaka Brick & White

Kitanaka Brick & White Celebrates Five Years with a Special Art Event

In July 2025, Kitanaka Brick & White in Yokohama celebrated its fifth anniversary with an exciting community event, the “Kids Paint Workshop.” Organized by J-Plan, under the leadership of CEO Ryosuke Yoneda, this event marked a significant milestone for the venue, which has been a hub for creativity and community connection.

Live Painting and Community Engagement

The workshop was held in conjunction with the monthly Kitanaka Marche, and featured a live painting session that allowed local children to unleash their creativity. With a limit of just twenty participants, children joyfully contributed to the mural, each adding their unique brush strokes and colors. This delightful experience not only celebrated the anniversary but also fostered a sense of camaraderie among the local community, turning into a heartwarming gathering.

The completed mural encapsulated vibrant hues inspired by flowers, bridging the art with the surrounding landscape of Yokohama. Below the mural, the design included a garden motif modeled after the venue's brick foundation, emphasizing the connection to its architectural identity.

SIGHTRIP: The Artists Behind the Artwork

The mural was created by the artistic duo SIGHTRIP, comprised of painter Rusow and Ayanicoco. Their mission was to bridge people and places through art, making spectators feel as if they were on a journey. SIGHTRIP's work is characterized by colorful acrylic paints and the use of black light effects, alongside monochrome pieces that create captivating experiences.

Rusow and Ayanicoco reflected on the history of the location, noting how the silver lines in the mural symbolize the former silk thread warehouse that existed there, representing “connections” and “fate.” With the lively backdrop of flowers and Yokohama’s beautiful scenery integrated into the design, the message was clear: art can act as a catalyst for conversation and newfound connections among visitors.

An Invitation to Experience Local Art

The artwork will be on display for a limited time, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the warmth of the local community and perhaps meet someone new along the way. The creation of this mural alongside the Kids Paint Workshop is a testament to how art can unite individuals in meaningful ways.
