Announcing the 2026 Local Contribution Subsidy from Kokumin Kyousai Coop

Kokumin Kyousai Coop, led by President Akikazu Uchikoshi of the National Council of Workers’ Mutual Aid Cooperatives, is excited to announce the 2026 Local Contribution Subsidy, aimed at supporting NPOs and citizen groups actively engaged in community assistance activities. This year marks the 35th iteration of the grant, which was first initiated in 1992.

The theme of this year's subsidy is "Towards a Future Where People Support One Another and Live with Peace of Mind." The program aims to bolster local initiatives focused on disaster prevention, environmental conservation, and the healthy development of children. Additionally, for the first time, support will extend to organizations working on activities that foster social co-creation.

We look forward to applications from various community organizations dedicated to these essential causes.

Overview of the 2026 Kokumin Kyousai Coop Local Contribution Subsidy

- Grant Theme: "Towards a Future Where People Support One Another and Live with Peace of Mind."

Eligible Organizations

1. NPOs, citizen groups, general corporations, and voluntary organizations.
2. Organizations with at least one year of activity since their establishment (as of August 31, 2026, the start of the application period).

Grant Details

1. Maximum grant per organization: 500,000 yen (for one project only).
2. Total grant budget: up to 20 million yen.

Eligible Activities and Time Frame

The subsidized activities must be conducted within the period of January 1 to December 31, 2027.

Application Period

From August 31 (Monday) to September 30 (Wednesday), 2026.

Purpose of the Subsidy

Kokumin Kyousai Coop is committed to contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the "Kokumin Kyousai Coop SDGs Action Declaration." We have identified six key issues to address: 1) Providing security through mutual aid, 2) Environmental conservation efforts, 3) Initiatives for the healthy development of children, 4) Disaster prevention and mitigation, 5) Creating a society through co-creation, and 6) Developing an attractive organization.

These efforts aim to work towards a society where no one is left behind. This subsidy is one of the initiatives that supports activities rooted in the community related to environmental conservation, the healthy development of children, disaster prevention and mitigation, and societal co-creation.

The official name is the National Council of Workers’ Mutual Aid Cooperatives. Established in September 1957 as a cooperative for mutual assistance, Kokumin Kyousai Coop operates on the principle of providing security through collective support, preparing for unforeseen circumstances.
