On June 6, 2025, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) proudly unveiled the LAX/Metro Transit Center Station, a transformative hub destined to reshape travel between Los Angeles and its international airport, LAX. As part of Metro's ambitious initiative titled 'Twenty-Eight by '28', aimed at enhancing the transit framework for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the LAX/Metro Transit Center Station becomes a vital part of regional connectivity. The station will serve not only athletes but also officials and spectators arriving to celebrate upcoming events like FIFA World Cup 26™ and Super Bowl LXI.

A Modern Facility for Enhanced Access

Strategically located at Aviation Blvd./96th St., this new station integrates multiple transit options, including direct access to Metro's C and K rail lines, six Metro bus lines, and eight municipal bus lines. The connection to airport shuttles and local transit further expands the options available for travelers and those employed in the airport vicinity. Holly Mitchell, LA County Supervisor, noted, “The LAX/Metro Transit Center Station will serve an important role for visitors, residents, and our vital airport-area employees.”

This leading-edge transit center features innovative architectural designs defined by expansive open spaces, large canopies, and user-friendly navigation, ensuring easy movement through the facility. It encompasses a bus plaza, secure bike hub, and a dedicated customer service center, all spanning over 1,100 feet. Its light rail platform is touted as the widest within the Metro system, enhancing the overall rider experience. Security measures are robust, with 24/7 monitoring to ensure safe and comfortable transit.

Furthermore, Metro's commitment to sustainability is evident throughout the station, with eco-friendly designs incorporating energy-efficient lighting and native landscaping.
