Toyota Motor North America Shows Growth in September 2026 U.S. Vehicle Sales

Toyota Motor North America Reports September 2026 U.S. Sales Results

Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) has announced its U.S. vehicle sales results for September 2026, indicating a positive trend in both total vehicle sales and electrified model sales. With a total of 201,306 vehicles sold, the company experienced an 8.4 percent increase in sales volume compared to September 2025. This growth is further supported by a daily selling rate (DSR) increase of 4.0 percent.

The remarkable rise in electrified vehicle sales is particularly noteworthy, with September sales reaching 117,215 units. This translates to a significant 37.8 percent growth in volume compared to the previous year, representing an impressive 58.2 percent of total sales volume. The strong performance of electrified models underscores the increasing consumer demand for sustainable and alternative fuel vehicles.

During the third quarter, TMNA reported sales totaling 633,223 vehicles, marking a 0.6 percent increase both in volume and on a DSR basis when measured against the third quarter of 2025. The total sales of electrified vehicles during this quarter reached 363,367 units, reflecting a substantial 28.5 percent rise in volume as well as a DSR increase, comprising 57.4 percent of total sales volume.

Diving deeper into the individual performance of the Toyota and Lexus divisions, the Toyota division recorded September sales of 171,469 vehicles, which corresponds to a 7.9 percent increase in volume and a 3.6 percent boost in DSR. Over the third quarter, the Toyota division sold 540,167 vehicles, a modest 0.5 percent growth.

On the other hand, the Lexus division also performed well, achieving September sales of 29,837 vehicles, up 11.4 percent in volume and 6.9 percent in DSR. For the quarter, Lexus sold 93,056 vehicles, reflecting a 1.6 percent increase.

Andrew Gilleland, Senior Vice President of the Automotive Operations Group at TMNA, emphasized that the consistent growth in sales reaffirms the company's commitment to providing diverse options that appeal to customers: "Our third-quarter results reinforce a simple truth—customers want choices. From affordability to electrification, our multi-path strategy continues to meet customers where they are and give them options that fit their lifestyles."

Further enhancing the conversation is the diversification of Toyota’s electrified vehicle portfolio, which includes 32 different electrified options available under both the Toyota and Lexus brands. This extensive range demonstrates the company's dedication to fulfilling customer needs and preferences in a rapidly evolving automotive landscape.

Another notable factor is that Toyota continues to maintain one of the lowest incentive offerings among full-line manufacturers, pointing towards a healthy demand for its vehicles without the need for substantial discounts.

As TMNA prepares for the fourth quarter, the positive momentum and carefully managed inventory levels prompt anticipation for a successful finish to the year. The company continues to adapt its operations and offerings to respond to evolving consumer behaviors and preferences increasingly focused on sustainability and electrification in personal mobility.

In summary, TMNA's September sales figures highlight a promising trajectory characterized by increasing demand for both traditional and electrified vehicles, showcasing a strong commitment to environmental sustainability as well as customer satisfaction. With a robust lineup and strategic management, Toyota's future appears bright, signaling a continued focus on innovation and responsiveness to market shifts.
