A Festival of Unlimited Creativity

This year, Vivid Sydney breaks away from traditional themes, allowing artists and creators the freedom to express their visions without restrictions. This open-ended approach has led to an explosion of unparalleled creativity across various mediums, manifesting in curated events centered on Light, Minds, Music, and Food. Each facet of the festival is poised to engage the senses and invite exploration.

Festival-goers can immerse themselves in more than 200 events spread over 23 enchanting nights, making it a unique opportunity to experience Sydney in an entirely new light. Featuring over 80% free events, attendees can wander through a condensed 6.5 km light walk that showcases 43 installations, projections, and large-scale public artworks, truly igniting the imagination.

Highlights of Vivid Sydney 2026

Visitors can anticipate the much-cherished return of the drone show, mesmerizing crowds with 22 performances illuminated over Cockle Bay. Additionally, the Vivid Fire Kitchen finds its new home in Barangaroo Reserve, where renowned culinary experts will showcase their talents, delighting food enthusiasts and casual diners alike. This year also introduces Vivid Minds, offering world-class conversations and performances from some of the most innovative thinkers in the creative industry.

A Message of Evolution

Brett Sheehy AO, the Festival Director, remarks, “This year marks the start of an exciting evolution of Vivid Sydney. We’ve expanded the program and opened the creative brief for artists, encouraging a more immersive and participatory experience.” He emphasizes the festival’s aim to amplify creativity, showcasing both Australian talent and celebrated international figures against the stunning backdrop of Sydney’s iconic landscapes.

Corporate Contributions

Continuing its tradition of partnerships, Kia and Samsung Electronics Australia return as Major Partners for this year’s festivities. Kia is set to unveil the Kia Refraction installation at Bligh Barney Reserve, while Samsung will present the Sky Portal Studio, a sculptural installation designed to engage audiences in a unique multimedia experience over its fifth consecutive year. Joining them is IREN, proudly sponsoring the Star-Bound Vivid Sydney Drone Show, ensuring an impressive aerial display.

Lilly Australia also joins as an Official Partner to mark its 150th Anniversary, contributing to Vivid Minds through a focused panel discussion titled A New Horizon of Health. Meanwhile, Uber will facilitate convenient transportation with dedicated pickup and drop-off zones, and Uber Eats will bring culinary engagement to the Food for Thought Stage in the Vivid Fire Kitchen. This year’s charitable endeavor is with Foodbank NSW & ACT, featuring an interactive installation titled Foodbank Truck Packer at Tumbalong Park, highlighting the festival's commitment to community involvement.
