In 2025, Independent School Management (ISM) proudly celebrates its 50th anniversary, a significant milestone that highlights its unwavering commitment to the future of K-12 private-independent schools. Founded in 1975, ISM began its journey with a vision from Rod Snelling and his wife, Anne, transforming the initial idea into a leading resource for education management.

From the outset, ISM made strides to assist schools through various services including consulting, professional development, financial aid, and enrollment management software. Their dedication to research-based support has motivated nearly 1,000 member schools, impacting over 11,000 school leaders each year through innovative professional development programs.

The history of ISM is marked by innovation and adaptability. In 1984, they were pioneers in introducing one of the first EdTech tools designed for school business offices, which marked a crucial step in educational technology. The subsequent years saw ISM evolve further, especially during the pandemic when they shifted towards webinars and virtual consulting to continue serving educational institutions efficiently.
