On November 30, 2025, a groundbreaking event titled "A Night Discussing Relationship Populations and Digital" will take place at Shibuya QWS, hosted by the Amakusa Island's Home Town Charm Promotion Foundation, located in the remote Amano in the Oki Islands, Shimane Prefecture. The event will focus on how the island utilizes digital integration with its relationship population for regional management, including discussions on innovative technologies such as Web3.0, DAO, and the metaverse.
The Amano Island, home to just 2,300 residents, faced a financial crisis over twenty years ago but has since flourished through collaboration among local residents and supporters. Recently, initiatives such as "adult island study abroad programs" and the "official ambassador program" have been implemented to connect people both in and outside the community. The official ambassador program is set to fully launch in 2024 and has already registered over 350 members.
As part of its efforts, Amano Island is determined to develop a new model of "relationship population management" utilizing digital technology. This allows for enhanced collaborative community building that includes individuals from outside the region, further fostering innovation and connection.
The official ambassador program allows anyone interested in supporting Amano to join, regardless of their location or status. Members receive updates on local events and opportunities to engage with projects in the area. Additionally, the program engages with the Amanowa DAO, facilitating decision-making and collaborative challenges.
The Amanowa DAO serves as a platform for both ambassadors and study-abroad participants to visibly document their contributions through blockchain technology, thereby enhancing their influence in community decision-making processes. As of September 2025, more than 300 relationship population members are involved in local initiatives through the ambassador program, contributing in diverse ways.
