Detox Gallery Presents 'I Grieve Different'
Overview
Detox Gallery, the innovative nomadic art gallery founded by the visionary curator Vickie J. Lin, is proud to announce its newest exhibition,
I Grieve Different. This month-long artistic showcase, opening on December 11, 2025, at the renowned 529 Arts in Chelsea, New York, offers an intimate exploration of loss, remembrance, and the profound human experience of resilience.
Exhibition Highlights
This exhibition features the works of 18 multidisciplinary artists hailing from both the U.S. and various international backgrounds.
I Grieve Different takes visitors on a journey that reflects on how grief influences our identities, connects us, and informs our paths to rebuilding our lives.
Vickie J. Lin, the founder and director, emphasizes the need for a space where pain can be recognized and transformation celebrated. “This exhibition aims to acknowledge the deeply personal nature of grief and how it manifests differently for everyone, shaped by cultural and personal histories,” she explains. Each artist brings a unique perspective to the theme, creating a collective dialogue on a universally shared experience.
Artistic Perspectives
The diverse selection of artists contributes stories of love, identity, and endurance through various artistic mediums, including painting, photography, mixed media, sculpture, digital art, and textile installations. Each piece serves as a testament to how grief can be a transformative force in artistic expression. This multifaceted approach allows visitors to appreciate the emotional depth and varied representations of grief.
Opening Reception
The exhibition kicks off with an exciting opening reception on December 11 from 6 PM to 9 PM. Attendees can enjoy live painting, musical performances, and unique vendor offerings, including THC/CBD-infused beverages provided by Ayrloom. It promises to be a festive and engaging experience that promotes community interaction.
Community Wellness Programming
Throughout the month,
I Grieve Different will host several workshops and wellness activities. These include sound bath meditation sessions led by MG Jarrett, a yoga and journaling workshop to reflect on the past year, and a vision-boarding session led by Artgurl, focusing on aspirations for 2026. Each event aims to foster connection and healing among participants. Details and registration for these events can be found on
Luma.
Creating a Healing Environment
Detox Gallery prides itself on being a space that merges artistic expression with community wellness. With a focus on accessibility and inclusiveness, the gallery fosters an environment where emerging and marginalized artists can thrive.
I Grieve Different embodies this mission by recognizing grief not as an isolating experience but as a shared human thread. Visitors are encouraged to engage with their emotions, share their journeys, and appreciate the power of artistic expression to transform loss into growth.
