The Launch of the 4th Session of Tenjin IPO School: Fostering Talent for IPO Management

The Launch of the 4th Session of Tenjin IPO School

Today marks the commencement of the fourth session of the Tenjin IPO School, organized by the Todoroki Association, under the leadership of Hiroaki Kato. Following the successful initiative last year, this year's program aims to tackle the pressing issue of the shortage of IPO managers in the Fukuoka economic sphere. The sessions will run from September 22 to December 15, focusing on critical aspects of IPO preparation.

Session Overview

Hiroaki Kato, the head of the Todoroki Association, will kick off the program on the first day, discussing the comprehensive landscape of IPO preparations while addressing common pitfalls faced by executives aiming for public listings, such as the concepts of IPO Miscalculation and CFO Differences. Here’s a brief schedule of the upcoming sessions:

1. September 22 (Mon) 17:00-19:00: Overview of IPO Preparation with an Emphasis on Listing Probability
2. October 16 (Thu) 17:00-19:00: Institutional Design and Experiences of IPO Managers
3. October 27 (Mon) 17:00-19:00: Capital Policies (SR+IR), Business Plans, and Budget Control
4. November 17 (Mon) 17:00-19:00: IPO and Legal Due Diligence
5. December 1 (Mon) 17:00-19:00: IPO Related Labor Management
6. December 15 (Mon) 17:00-19:00: Streamlining Various Regulatory Business Flows

The Need for IPO Managers in Fukuoka

The aspiration to become an international financial hub in the Fukuoka economic area is challenged by a notable lack of suitable IPO managers, including roles such as management executives, full-time auditors, and internal audit managers. Despite various initiatives to attract financial functions and being designated as a national strategic special zone, the region sees fewer listed companies and resources compared to Tokyo, which exacerbates the issue.

To combat this, the Todoroki Association first launched the Tenjin IPO School in 2022, supported by the Fukuoka Stock Exchange and collaborative efforts with local businesses. The association aims to nurture 'IPO Managers' capable of supporting the limited number of IPOs that emerge from the Kyushu region, approximately 100 companies annually at a national level.

Comprehensive Curriculum

The curriculum is tailored to IPO newbies, covering foundational knowledge essential for IPO managers, including overall preparation for going public, business planning, regulatory compliance, and human resource policies. Attendees will gain insight into the common pitfalls faced and how to navigate these challenges to increase their likelihood of successful public listing.

The school doesn’t guarantee IPO success solely through attendance; however, under the guidance of Kato and a team of seasoned professionals, including Ryoji Yoshiyuki, Kenji Tsutsumi, Koji Oda, and Shinichi Hayata, participants will gain invaluable knowledge and techniques applicable to IPO preparation.

Aiming for More IPOs

The goal is to enhance the number of IPOs from Fukuoka. In consideration of the public nature of the Fukuoka Stock Exchange, the tuition fee is limited to actual costs (materials and networking event fees) to promote regional economic revitalization. Every aspiring participant is encouraged to join this initiative enthusiastically.

For those genuinely committed to pursuing an IPO following their studies, membership in the Todoroki Association is highly recommended. While acquiring knowledge is vital, bridging the gap between understanding and implementation is critical. The Todoroki Association offers hands-on services that support numerous successful IPOs, making it a beneficial resource for both aspiring and existing startups.
