Revolutionizing Electronics Design: CELUS Unveils AI-Driven Architecture Planning Workflow

CELUS Launches AI-Driven Workflow for Electronics Design

In a major development, CELUS has introduced an innovative workflow for its Design Assistant, aimed at transforming the way hardware engineers approach electronics design. This new agentic workflow empowers engineers to effectively plan the architecture and components at the onset of their design process, significantly enhancing efficiency and accuracy.

Traditionally, engineers faced numerous challenges when starting a new project, often relying on disparate sources such as datasheets and general-purpose chatbots to gather information about components. This method was tedious and time-consuming as it required multiple checks against individual datasheets to ensure accuracy. The previous version of the Design Assistant operated one prompt at a time, leaving engineers with the overarching responsibility of maintaining the overall project plan. However, CELUS' new workflow alleviates this burden.

The agentic workflow allows the Design Assistant to take on a more proactive role in the design process. It begins by capturing the intent of the engineer's design vision. The engineer provides a description of the product, and the assistant engages by inquiring about specific details such as interfaces, power budgets, cost considerations, and compliance requirements. These interactions are documented in an Intent Document, which serves as a comprehensive blueprint for the project.

One of the revolutionary aspects of this new workflow is that nothing is executed until the engineer gives their approval. This means that the engineer has complete control over the design process, allowing for any necessary adjustments or redirections at any stage. Once the plan is approved, the Design Assistant produces a detailed block diagram of the system and conducts thorough research to recommend appropriate components, including direct citations from datasheets or specifications for each suggested part.

An integral part of the process includes the assistant reviewing its own output. It proactively identifies and proposes solutions for any discrepancies or errors reported by the project, comparing the design against the requirements laid out in the Intent Document to ensure compliance. Furthermore, if a component is found to be costly or has an extended lead time, the assistant is programmed to suggest alternative parts ranked by factors such as price and availability, allowing engineers to make informed decisions without excessive delays.

In an era where engineering teams are increasingly pressured to deliver more product variants under tighter timelines and with fewer experienced engineers, this enhanced workflow by CELUS is a vital asset.
