The YoungArts Award Competition 2026: A Prestigious Opportunity for Young Artists

2026 YoungArts Award Competition: An Opportunity for Aspiring Artists

The YoungArts organization, recognized nationally for its commitment to nurturing young talent, has officially opened entries for its 2026 YoungArts Award Competition. This prestigious contest invites artists aged 15 to 18—or those in grades 10 to 12—to showcase their work and gain invaluable support on their artistic journeys. The application window will remain open until October 8, 2025, and potential candidates can apply at youngarts.org/apply.

What Participants Stand to Gain

Winners of the YoungArts award competition have the chance to receive financial prizes ranging from $250 to an impressive $10,000, awarded based on their artistic merit. However, the recognition extends well beyond monetary rewards; recipients also gain eligibility for ongoing mentoring and professional development, setting the stage for their successful careers in the arts.

Each application will undergo a thorough evaluation by expert panels, ensuring that all entries are judged solely on artistic excellence. Announcements revealing the selected award winners will occur on November 24, 2025, adding further excitement for applicants.

Not only do award winners benefit from immediate rewards, but those who achieve distinction will be invited to participate in the National YoungArts Week (NYAW). This weeklong program, fully funded by YoungArts, will take place in Miami, offering a unique platform for networking and learning. Participants will have the privilege to work and collaborate with celebrated artists across various fields, including noteworthy figures such as Debbie Allen, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and Wynton Marsalis. Such connections are instrumental in refining their craft and expanding their artistic horizons.

Becoming a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts

Additionally, talented young participants who are high school seniors at the time of NYAW might be nominated for the prestigious title of U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts, a notable accolade that recognizes exceptional young artists in various disciplines.

Clive Chang, the YoungArts President and CEO, emphasizes the significant role of this competition in nurturing young talent, stating, "The YoungArts journey starts with our annual competition, and applying to YoungArts represents a powerful moment of affirmation for young artists. What sets us apart from other programs is that our support begins at this early stage and continues throughout the trajectory of an artist's career. We hope all young artists will apply, and we look forward to supporting their work."
