About Yuji Nakazawa


Yuji Nakazawa, the former captain of the Japan national football team, has had a storied career. Starting his professional journey at Verdy Kawasaki in 1999 before moving to Yokohama F. Marinos, he became a cornerstone of the team's success. Over his career, Nakazawa played 593 matches in the J1 League and contributed to two World Cup appearances—2006 in Germany and 2010 in South Africa—helping Japan progress to the round of 16 in 2010. Since retiring in January 2019, he has engaged in sports commentary and various media activities, continuing to inspire football enthusiasts.
