Formula E's Commitment to Sustainable Futures
The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship has recently made a significant contribution aimed at supporting children and youth residing in Tokyo's childcare facilities. This initiative, part of the "Better Futures Fund," involves a donation of €25,000 directed to the Tokyo Welfare Council. This choice reflects Formula E's commitment to community engagement and enhancing welfare systems, aligning with broader goals of sustainability, social impact, and promoting equality, diversity, and inclusivity.
The Tokyo Welfare Council collaborates with over 50 childcare facilities across Tokyo, supporting the healthy development and welfare improvement of more than 2,700 children and young people. The funds provided will be instrumental in facilitating the necessary resources and support for the growth and societal participation of these young individuals. This donation is part of a larger initiative within the Better Futures Fund, which distributes a total of €250,000 across all race-host cities this season, markedly increasing from last season’s total of €100,000.
The Better Futures Fund serves as a core initiative of Formula E's social impact strategy, "Formula Equity," aiming to address social inequalities in host cities and assist underserved communities. The recent contribution comes ahead of the Tokyo E-Prix event, as Formula E has pledged to support the Tokyo Welfare Council, which works with over 50 childcare facilities in the metropolitan area. The funds are intended to create a safe and supporting environment where children can grow and be included as members of society, channeling resources into various programs, facility improvements, and activities.
Activities During the Tokyo E-Prix
As part of the upcoming Tokyo E-Prix, numerous collaborative initiatives are planned between the Tokyo Welfare Council and Formula E:
- - Visit to Childcare Facilities: Formula E representatives will visit childcare facilities in Tokyo, providing activities that promote mental and physical well-being and creativity. Through sports such as basketball and teamwork-oriented games, participants will enhance their confidence and sense of achievement. Additionally, creative workshops will enable children to design their own Formula E car, simultaneously stimulating their imaginations and connecting with the exciting world of electric racing.
- - Official Donation Ceremony: An official donation ceremony took place at the Tokyo E-Prix venue on May 17, wherein Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds and Kohei Torida, Vice President of the Tokyo Welfare Council, participated in remarks followed by the signing of the donation agreement.
