CMC Announces Strong Fourth Quarter and Fiscal Year 2026 Financial Results, Driven by Strategic Growth Initiatives

CMC's Fiscal Year 2026 Financial Overview

Commercial Metals Company (CMC), a leader in steel manufacturing, unveiled its financial statements for the fourth quarter and the entire fiscal year ended August 31, 2026. This report highlights a significant increase in both net earnings and core EBITDA, indicating a year of substantial growth and strategic advancement for the company.

Strong Earnings and Growth Metrics

For the fiscal year 2026, CMC reported net earnings totaling $655.8 million, showcasing a remarkable leap in financial performance from the previous year. The consolidated core EBITDA surged to $1.4 billion, a considerable enhancement from $837.3 million in fiscal 2025. The company also marked a core EBITDA margin increase, reaching 14.5%, an improvement of 380 basis points compared to the prior year. This progression underscores CMC's effective management strategies and operational improvements.

In the fourth quarter alone, CMC's net earnings amounted to $212.5 million, translating to $1.91 per diluted share, alongside adjusted earnings of $233.6 million, or $2.09 per diluted share, reflecting a year-over-year increase of 52.6% on a per-share basis. The quarterly consolidated core EBITDA expanded by 35.1% year-over-year to total $393.7 million, with an improved core EBITDA margin of 14.8%, up 100 basis points from the same period last year.

Drivers of Growth

This robust growth can be attributed to several key factors: positive performance from the North America Steel Group, contributions from acquired precast operations, and the successful implementation of the Transform, Advance, Grow (TAG) initiatives. The integration of precast products is progressing smoothly and is expected to yield further benefits going forward. Moreover, CMC's net leverage has decreased to below 2 times targeted ratios, reflecting increased financial stability.

Peter Matt, President and CEO of CMC, stated, "Fiscal 2026 marked a transformational step forward for CMC. Our focus remains on building organizational strength and enhancing margin durability, which was evidenced by our fourth quarter performance. While we faced some softness in residential demand affecting precast results, we are optimistic about our strong backlogs and diverse portfolio of solutions."

Operational Performance Highlights

During the fourth quarter, CMC's North America Steel Group witnessed a 32.6% year-over-year increase in adjusted EBITDA, totaling $317.5 million, backed by higher average selling prices and volume growth in merchant bar shipments. Finished goods shipments also increased by 5.3% compared to the previous year.

In contrast, the Construction Solutions Group (CSG) reported exceptional net sales growth of 94.5%, reaching $431.4 million. Adjusted EBITDA for this segment nearly doubled year-over-year to $101.7 million, demonstrating strong demand across non-residential and infrastructure projects. However, despite positive trends, precast sales faced challenges due to regional residential market weaknesses.

Interestingly, the Europe's Steel Group experienced mixed results, with adjusted EBITDA of $15.6 million down from the previous year’s $39.1 million, affected by the absence of a notable CO₂ credit from the prior period.

Future Outlook

Looking ahead to fiscal 2027, CMC anticipates another prosperous year, buoyed by a favorable market backdrop and the growing contributions from its growth initiatives and investments. CMC remains focused on delivering profitable growth, enhancing shareholder value, and executing its strategic objectives effectively. With backlogs nearing record levels and a commitment to operational excellence, the company is well-positioned to continue its upward trajectory in the competitive steel landscape.

In summary, CMC's fiscal 2026 results reflect a year of growth, driven by strategic initiatives and strong operational performance, setting promising prospects for the future.
