Second Asia High School Baseball Championship Held in Indonesia by NB.ACADEMY

The Second Asia High School Baseball Championship in Indonesia

The much-anticipated Second Asia High School Baseball Championship took place from December 13 to December 20, 2025, at the GBK Baseball Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia. Organized by NB.ACADEMY, helmed by Shogo Shibata, this prestigious event drew significant participation and excitement from young baseball players across Asia aged 14 to 18.

A Celebration of Youth Baseball

The championship aimed to create opportunities for cross-border competition and international exchange amongst young athletes. This year, 14 teams from three countries participated, playing a total of 36 games in a thrilling tournament format that even included a losers’ bracket. The Jakarta representative team, Cheetahs, impressively retained their championship title, showcasing their remarkable talent throughout the tournament.

The event was marked by electrifying energy as young athletes from diverse backgrounds demonstrated both their competitive spirit and camaraderie on the field. Players displayed a genuine respect for each other, transcending national and cultural boundaries—a true testament to the unifying power of sports. The tournament not only witnessed intense matches but also fostered valuable lessons outside the realm of competition. Players greeted each other before and after games, cheered from the benches, and celebrated each other's skills with heartfelt gestures that echoed the traditions of Japan's Koshien.

Community Engagement and Attendance Growth

In anticipation of the championship, local communities mobilized to create an inviting atmosphere for spectators. With a goal of filling the stands with 1,000 cheering fans, collaborative efforts among sponsors, local businesses, and schools played a pivotal role. Digital outreach through social media also helped to heighten local interest.

The result was overwhelming, as the final day of the event saw all 1,000 seats filled, with additional attendees standing to watch the excitement unfold. In total, approximately 2,500 attendees participated throughout the week—a significant increase from last year, signifying the growing appeal of youth baseball in Asia.

Exhibition Matches and Cultural Exchanges

During the tournament, an exciting exhibition match featured the Asia High School Baseball U18 All-Star team facing off against the Japan national team. With around 90 cheerleaders providing spirited support, the audience experienced a lively and vibrant atmosphere. Notably, 55 of the cheerleaders were local high school and university students, many of whom enjoyed their first experience performing in front of a large crowd. This event not only shared the cultural significance of Japanese high school baseball but also fostered connections among participants and spectators.

Emphasis on Future Development

One of the critical aspects of this year's championship was the selection process for the All-Star team. Instead of solely evaluating current physical abilities and technical skills, a focus was placed on the potential for future growth of the players. NB.ACADEMY employed a custom scoring application, inspired by the methods used in professional baseball, to assess players’ trajectories and capabilities.

Players hailed not only from Southeast Asia but included a handful of athletes from beyond, creating opportunities for cultural exchange and mutual learning. The expectation was clear: to inspire young athletes to take these experiences back home, enriching their dialogues with future generations about the sport and its values.

ASIA COMMUNITY 2025: Dialogue and Networking

In conjunction with the tournament, NB.ACADEMY hosted the ASIA COMMUNITY 2025 discussion at JS Luwansa Hotel, attended by approximately 150 participants. Speakers shared their insights across sectors such as sports, entertainment, and health, emphasizing cross-cultural collaboration and the sharing of valuable perspectives. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees expressing newfound inspirations and connections.

Support from Sponsors

The realization of this event was thanks to the unwavering support of numerous sponsors, including Diamond Sponsor Snow Brand Milk Products. Their commitment to nurturing the next generation of athletes in Asia has been invaluable in providing a premier environment for players to learn and grow.

Final Remarks

After the conclusion of the Second Asia High School Baseball Championship, Shogo Shibata expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved—teams, sponsors, and supporters. This tournament is not just about competition; it’s about showing young people a path toward achieving their dreams, fostering a sense of unity in diversity, and providing a platform where they can thrive.

The enduring belief is that events like this can shape the future by bridging cultural divides and creating lasting relationships rooted in a shared passion for baseball and its values. Moving forward, NB.ACADEMY is determined to continue building upon this momentum, supporting the evolution of youth baseball in Asia towards a brighter and more unified future.
