World Team Tennis Introduces New Roster and Schedule for 47th Season
World Team Tennis (WTT) is gearing up for an exciting new season with the announcement of its expanded player rosters and the official schedule for the highly anticipated 47th season, set to kick off in December. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets starting September 15 at 10 AM ET via WTT.com, marking the return of premier tennis entertainment to the courts.
During this upcoming season, three clubs will feature an impressive lineup of elite players:
- - Toronto North Racquet Club: The roster includes top talents like Victoria Mboko, Leylah Fernandez, Denis Shapovalov, and Gabriel Diallo.
- - New York Empire Racquet Club: Fans can cheer for star players such as Jessica Pegula, Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, and Camila Osorio.
- - Florida Flamingos Racquet Club: The club will showcase promising athletes including Learner Tien, Iva Jovic, and Tommy Paul.
As highlighted by WTT's CEO Stephen Amritraj, the organization aims to honor its foundation's original vision by hosting matches where top-ranked players compete in a cooperative, team-based format. This setup allows fans to enjoy a blend of elite men’s and women’s tennis during a single event, featuring singles matches along with mixed doubles, which adds excitement and diversity to the competition.
Each match will incorporate a new format featuring four singles sets: Men's No. 1 vs. Men's No. 1, Women's No. 1 vs. Women's No. 1, Men's No. 2 vs. Men's No. 2, and a mixed doubles Supertiebreaker at the conclusion. This innovative approach ensures that both male and female players contribute equally to their teams' overall performances, highlighting the league's commitment to inclusivity and team spirit.
WTT’s relaunch promises not only competitive tennis but also a vibrant fan experience. Matches will take place in various exciting venues, with each club scheduled to host two home matches:
