Sally Beauty's Educational Commitment to the Textured Hair Community in 2025



In an inspiring move to support and empower the textured hair community, Sally Beauty has announced the continuation of its Rooted in Success initiative, tailored specifically to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). This year, the retailer is expanding its efforts to foster community engagement and provide educational resources for young Black female students.

The Rooted in Success event series is set to visit nine HBCU campuses across the Southeastern United States throughout February and March. The program is designed to offer a space of inspiration, empowerment, and personal growth, providing students with crucial tools to navigate their educational and professional journeys.

Unique Campus Events


The journey begins with the Impressions of Beauty's Black Girls Matter Meetup Tour, sponsored exclusively by Sally Beauty. This tour provides an exciting on-campus experience that aims to celebrate and uplift Black female students. Six key campuses will host immersive brunch events, where students can connect with industry leaders and peers while enjoying a vibrant atmosphere filled with inspiration.

The participating institutions include:

  • - Alabama State University
  • - Clark Atlanta University
  • - Howard University
  • - Florida A&M University
  • - North Carolina A&T State University

But the event doesn’t just stop at delicious food. Guests will gain access to intimate panel discussions with esteemed leaders from Black-owned beauty brands such as Camille Rose Naturals, Shea Moisture, and many others. Attendees will also preview the upcoming Pardon My Fro brand, which will grace Sally Beauty's shelves in March 2025.

Engaging Expert Insights


The event series shines a spotlight on renowned celebrity hairstylist Monaè Everett, who has an impressive portfolio that includes work with personalities like Nia Long and Tia Mowry. Monaè, who embodies the vision of inclusivity and empowerment, will participate in interactive sessions, sharing her expertise and enlightening students about diverse hair textures.

In addition to expert panels, attendees can explore Sally Beauty’s extensive array of more than 50 Black-owned brands specializing in textured hair care. Students will have the opportunity to engage with hands-on demonstrations and consultations by Sally Beauty representatives, including gift card giveaways and free textured hair products from celebrated brands.

Community Reach and Future Goals


To ensure the message of empowerment reaches a wider audience, all nine campuses will feature brand ambassadors distributing free products and gift cards to students. The initiative also showcases Sally Beauty's commitment to social responsibility through the Future Change MakeHERs campaign, which recognizes and rewards emerging leaders among HBCU students with $200 gift cards.
