The 67th Annual Washington International Horse Show
The Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), which proudly celebrates its 67th edition this year, is set to gallop back into action from October 20-26, 2025. Hosted at the scenic Show Place Arena located in the Prince George's Equestrian Center of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, this show claims its rank as one of the premier equestrian events in North America. Opening Night Honoring the Military
On Thursday, October 23rd at 7 PM, the show kicks off with a special night dedicated to honoring the U.S. Armed Forces. Featured events include the $63,000 International Jumper Welcome Stake and the $63,000 Stars and Stripes Speed Stake. Intriguingly, each horse-and-rider pair will navigate an obstacle themed around the American flag in the Speed Stake, and for every clear jump, funds will be raised for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) that supports families who've lost military loved ones. The evening promises laughs and excitement courtesy of a mascot race featuring the beloved Racing Presidents from the Washington Nationals and WIHS mascot, Major.
MARS Barn Night
Friday, October 24th at 7 PM will host the MARS Barn Night, made possible by Walkenbach Equestrian. This evening is packed with thrilling events starting with international jumpers competing in the $63,000 Welcome Stake. Attendees can also relish the $32,000 Accumulator Costume Class where riders get to swap formal show attire for creative costumes, all inspired by the show's “Wild for WIHS” theme. The fun will be complemented by the vibrant WIHS Shetland Steeplechase Races.
World Cup Night
One of the grandest moments of the week occurs on Saturday, October 25th at 6:30 PM, during World Cup Night. The main event will be the highly anticipated $340,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Washington CSI5-W for the President's Cup, sponsored by the Maryland Sports Commission. Spectators will witness some of the top-ranked riders in the world, including the renowned U.S. Olympic silver medalist, Kent Farrington, competing at the highest level, along with 13 Olympians representing various countries. Moreover, this evening will culminate in the WIHS Equitation Finals, spotlighting the best junior equestrian talent in the nation.
WIHS Kids' Day
Families will want to mark their calendars for the WIHS Kids' Day on Saturday, October 26th from 10 AM to 2 PM. This complimentary event brims with educational and enjoyable activities for children, including crafts, pony rides, and face painting. A distinct feature of the day includes a horseless horse show and a unique pony kissing booth! As a grand finale to Kids' Day, attendees will enjoy a free performance of Sylvia Zerbini's Grande Liberté, showcasing her artistic 12 Arabian horses.
